School Groups

Friends recognizes the importance of early animal welfare education and provides opportunities for school groups and classrooms to get involved. Our classroom program is designed to engage kids in learning and service. We would love to bring your school group to the shelter to show you around and work on service activities!

  • Due to space limitations, we can accommodate a maximum number of 10 per group, including chaperones. No exceptions.
  • 5th grade-12th grade
  • We encourage everyone to bring items that we can always use in caring for our shelter guests. Wish list here.
  • Must wear long pants, closed toed shoes, and no dangly jewelry or “nice” clothing. No headphones.
  • School groups are scheduled on Thursdays and Fridays between 9 -11 a.m., or 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • You will have the opportunity to be safely hands-on with some of our animals.
  • Our building is not a safe place for those with an airborne peanut allergy, or for those who are pregnant. We can accommodate most other allergies and disabilities.
  • For more in-shelter opportunities for youth, please check out our Youth Program and Read to Rover Program.
